Hello to all,
Tammy and I rise from the covers every morning to begin the day. She feeds our dog while I start the morning tea. Then, she lets our dog out to do her morning business as I take my meds. The roulette game begins at this moment. If the dog barks to come in and Tammy has already returned to our room, then she shouts, “I’m upstairs already.” This means I let the dog back into our home. However, if Ginger barks before her tea is ready, she has the honor of letting the dog in.
These are rules she established throughout our thirty years of marriage. Precedents codify the majority of the regulations over time. This morning, Ginger barked, demanding to be let back into the house as the teapot whistled the proper temperature. “Will you get her?” came the soft voice across the kitchen.
“But you are still down here,” I whined.
Following the specified rules, I stood my ground and then went after the dog.
Like most houses in this great country, the wife makes the rules for a happy home. She is the sole arbitrator for all family regulations and laws. Having maintained her title of “Boss” for nearly thirty-one years, she has the authority to change any rules on a need-by-need basis. I granted this license to her by calling her boss within the first month of marriage.
