Hello to all,
As the autumn air settles into northeast Ohio, I revel at the shorter days, cooler nights, and air drying. The muggy days of summer are long gone, replaced by trees turning red, orange, and a few yellow. This is my time of year. I look forward to the dimming daylight, which means less grass mowing.
Tammy enjoys the vibrant colors of fall but frowns at the cooler temperatures. As the chill in our house reached sixty-six degrees overnight, the calls for heat woke me every morning. Around mid-October, Tammy announces it is too cold for ice cream. As for me, I have never reached that point, even in the dead of winter when the temperature reaches below zero.
I like the house at sixty-eight degrees, whereas Tammy comforts at seventy-two. We compromise on seventy degrees while the cool autumn air drains the house of excess humidity. When winter dries the house thoroughly, we raise the thermostat to seventy-two. In the meantime, I am at home in shorts and a tank top, and Tammy cuddles in long jeans, a long-sleeved shirt, and sometimes huddles in a sweatshirt.
After a week of rain soaking our world, today shines bright with blue skies from horizon to horizon. There is grass to cut, leaves to mow over, and a little more yard work to do before winter shuts down plant growth. The brisk autumn air soothes the aggravation from doing these chores. The downside to the glorious weather outside is Ginger, our entitled dog, who has seen fit to go outside seven times before ten in the morning. Although it looks agreeable through the window, the cool autumn air keeps her from staying out too long.
Cheers to everyone enjoying the cool autumn air amidst the sunshine and trees blooming bright fall colors. It is easy to thank God for such a beautiful day.
